1. Introduction

Welcome to Foreversary ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

2. Information We Collect

When you use Foreversary, we may collect the following types of information:

  • Content You Create: Sender names, recipient names, messages, anniversary surprise settings, and audio files you upload or record.
  • Usage Data: Anonymous analytics about how you interact with our service (e.g., pages visited, features used).
  • Device Information: Browser type, device type, and IP address for security and optimization purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain our anniversary surprise creation service.
  • Store and deliver your created surprises to recipients.
  • Improve our service through anonymous analytics.
  • Optional analytics may be enabled for public pages only after consent. This version does not load advertising.
  • Prevent fraud and ensure the security of our platform.

4. Data Storage & Retention

Your anniversary surprises are stored on Neon PostgreSQL infrastructure. All uploaded media (audio, voice messages) are stored in a private storage bucket and can only be accessed through temporary, time-limited signed URLs generated when the surprise is viewed.

Our data retention policy:

  • 48-hour retention: Your private link is 100% free and available for 48 hours from when your surprise is successfully created. Opening or sharing it does not restart this period. After 48 hours, the private link expires and the content is no longer accessible through Foreversary. Scheduled cleanup then deletes the stored content and Foreversary-hosted uploads. Cleanup currently runs every five minutes, but deletion can take longer if a cleanup attempt fails and needs to retry. Your private thank-you link has its own 48-hour period from when the reply is successfully created. Opening or sharing it does not restart this period.
  • Private access: The surprise is available only through its private link during its 48-hour availability window, measured from successful creation.
  • Deletion requests: If you need a surprise removed before it is opened, email us with the share or view link.

5. Third-Party Services & Cookies

We use the following third-party services to deliver your free experience:

  • Neon PostgreSQL: For the application database.
  • Cloudflare: For the Worker, website hosting and private R2 media storage.
  • Optional Google Analytics: Independent configuration and consent are required before loading analytics.

No advertising account has been configured. The operator must review any future analytics or advertising integration before launch.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your data.
  • Opt out of personalized advertising.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.

7. Children's Privacy

Foreversary is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.
